We have officially reached the half-way point in the school year. Last Friday was the end of the second quarter and we just sealed up the envelopes to mail report cards home. (It is funny how nervous that makes kids; I remember being the same way). We are at minus five students from the start of the year (mainly due to financial reasons, not us doing a bad job) and should have one of those students returning soon. We have build a good relationship with the students, have our own classroom flow and are generally enjoying what we are doing. There are always questions of how we could be doing a whole lot better as an educational institution, but I think we have fared pretty well during our first half of the school year and have had a positive experience wit hit so far. We have some great kids and the three day weekends never cease to be appreciated fully by us.
Things we still need to accomplish: a "non-uniform day," which apparently means the world to the students; at least one snow-day, which would mean the world to me; some better games in gym class and a louder, more commanding voice (that one only applies to me).
Hopefully we will both update blogs more often. We have been without internet at home for a few weeks, but hopefully will get that figured out soon.
We have also reached a checkpoint in the young adult ministry. Sunday morning marked our "graduation" from the School of Revolution (our leadership school), which was about ten months of meeting together for a class at 8:00am on Sunday mornings before church. We were in the class, but were also co-teachers. We also are preparing as a group for the second Encounter Retreat, another checkpoint in the ministry. God is doing some cool things.
And the final checkpoint is that December marked one year in our apartment. This will probably be the first apartment we will have lived in for more than 13 months.
