anne of . . . what is going on?

After being lured in to Anne of Green Gables at Christmastime, we decided to watch the next two movies in the series. We watched the second one pretty quickly. We have had the third one for a couple of weeks, watching it in little segments as we have time. We were pretty confused most of the first half of the disk. Anne is suddenly in a war zone, what's that all about? We thought that maybe we had the wrong side of the disk, so we took it out and checked and we were on side one. There were opening credits, so we realized that we were on the right side. Maybe it was one of those sequels where lots of time has passed in between and that was why Anne was in a war, caring for a baby that is not her's, searching for Gilbert (her husband, who might be dead) and in communication with a guy that we have never heard of. We were pretty confused but followed as best as we could and finally got to a climax in the story last night. As we got to the end of side one, we realized that this was the end of the movie altogether (and not a very good one, either).

We flipped over the disk to see what the other side was, wondering if we had just seen the second half, not the first. Yep, that was the case. Side two was really side one and we were super frustrated. It was labeled wrong (their fault) and we should have double checked (our fault). We were just too upset (at least Tom was) to go back and watch the middle part at that point. We will have to watch it, even though we now know the ending, and hope that it fills in some very strange gaps for us and can redeem the last couple of hours of confusing viewing.
