Yesterday some good friends of ours, Ryan and Brianna, were married. They had a small outdoor ceremony in the backyard of her grandparents house, with a beautiful garden, birds chirping, a blue sky and nice white clouds as the backdrop. It was a really nice, peaceful setting and a truly beautiful and intimate wedding ceremony. They were actually childhood best friends and had a young start at love (though there were three little seven year old boys fighting for her love in the alley behind their houses, Ryan was the one to win her heart). We were honored, along with our friend Karen (an amazing violin player) to be able to play the music in their wedding (my first time ever doing that, and Tom's second). It was a wedding where God's love and joy are especially obvious and the story makes you smile.
However, it was also really, really, really hot yesterday. That's the thing with an outdoor wedding. It was a blessing that there was no rain and the ultra-humid, upper nineties weather of a few days earlier was gone. But it was still about eighty-five to ninety degrees with the sun beating down on us. Actually, beating down mostly on the left side of us. This left us all sweaty, thirsty and a bit tired and me with a left-side sunburn (it seemed weird to wear sunscreen to a wedding).

When I was in Colorado, I managed to burn the weirdest places, and every day, I burned someplace new.
