I have been waiting awhile to write this blog. Probably close to a month, actually. Tom and I have accepted new jobs. We are going to be the teachers for R.C.A. (Resurrection Christian Academy), the school within the walls of our church. This was a clearly God-ordained and God-set-up situation for us and we are really excited for all the He has for us as we enter into this new season.
This is a 1st-8th grade school and is a unique concept in itself. It is sort of a group homeschool, one-room schoolhouse and private school all rolled into one. The students work from a homeschool cirriculum for their core subjects (Math, Science, Reading/Spelling/English, Bible and Social Studies/History/Geography) in work periods througouht the day. These are individual study sections of the day, and we are there (along with other volunteers) to assist them with questions and checking over work/grading. Then they rotate their last period of the day between gym, spanish, music, art and field trips. We will get an opportunity to teach most or all of these classes.
As of today, we each have only five shifts left at our coffee shops, and the countdown has begun. For me, I have only one more early morning opening shift, which is strange but nice. Tom will stay on at his coffeeshop for one day every 3-6 weeks (once every six weeks is the requirement to stay on staff). This is mainly for the discount and to keep in touch with the coffee world in some aspect.
We are really excited and I am glad to finally be able to write this blog.
